Overview /_Multi-Disciplines
RBMP is cross-sectoral. Hydrologists estimate and measure the river flow, engineers design the flood protection measures, economists calculate the benefit of river compared to railroad transport, mathematical modelling supports the integrated analysis of flood management and social scientist are concerned with conflicts among farmers, tourists and environmental activists. Therefore various scientific fields contribute their expertise to the project. This is also reflected by the fields of expertise covered by the project partners. Their experiences extend from psychology, economics and biology to engineering. Furthermore, the research will study all questions in an international comparative context. It will study the influence of cultural, geographical, institutional and legal factors on the PP process, on the effects of PP, and on the attitudes towards the use of information and information tools.
